Join Black Folks on Bikes for Environmental Justice
At Strategy and Soul
The Strategy Center is excited to be one of eight organizations in the South-Central LA Power Up coalition working with the California Air Resources Board, LA Dept of Transportation, and LA Clean Tech Incubator to host a library of 250 E-Bikes that will be free for South LA residents for the first 6 months of the program.
The Strategy Center, Ride On Bike co-op, Esperanza Community Housing, Trust South LA, SCOPE LA, and Ride Wit Us will each serve as community hubs and work with People for Mobility Justice to engage members that will participate in training sessions, and then work with each organization to check out a bike on a monthly basis and participate in programing that promotes clean zero emission transportation. The South-Central Power Up program will run as a 2-year pilot program.
Public transportation in Los Angeles is failing. Black folks on Bikes for Environmental Justice challenges the car culture and the buses that never show up, and challenges the policing of our communities so that Black folks can ride bikes without fear.
Participants can check out an e-bike for upto a month at a time free of charge for the first 6 months.
