From managing a clothing store to managing a Strategy and Soul bookstore!

I am the new Manager for the Strategy and Soul Bookstore I need your support.  The bookstore has been doing a good job but the traffic is not what we had hoped. They brought me in to dramatically expand our daily visitors and book sales. They felt I was the right person for the job. We are having our yearend fundraiser at Strategy and soul and It would mean the world to me if you considered purchasing books or donating to the Organization.

Why did I decide to join the Strategy Center?

The Strategy Center  has many projects under its belt such as The Bus Riders Union, Strategy and Soul Film, and Strategy and Soul Bookstore. The Strategy Center is a Think/Act Tank that address the totality of urban life for Black, Latin X and Indigenous working people in Los Angeles. I work with a strong leadership team—Eric Mann, Channing Martinez, Barbara Lott-Holland and Akunna Uka whom are passionate about the work they do and truly care about changing the system that affects the people in our community.

The reason I began my journey to work for Strategy Center was because I wanted to make a difference in the world. I was searching for something in my life that impactful and meaningful, and I found it here. I went from managing a clothing store to managing a book store! This is exciting for me as I am a true believer that books can change the world! As we know, books are being banned in this country it is more important than ever to ensure that our history is not being erased, and we must preserve every piece of literature.

In addition to book education, it is important for me to actively contribute to the positive transformation of Black people in our community, and I strongly believe that a revolutionary change is needed and I hope, that you can support me in this endeavor.

What is the Strategy and Soul Bookstore?

Strategy and Soul bookstore is an Afrocentric Bookstore in South Central Los Angeles that carries the 60 books that every successful organizer should read in a lifetime! The Book store is curated by the well-known author, Eric Mann and we carry his entire collection of books such as “Playbook for Progressives: The 16 Qualities of the Successful Organizer. ” He and Channing are co-directors of the Strategy Center.

In our bookstore you will find a selection of 8 “Holiday Curated Collections” comprised of Children’s Books, (The Young Organizer in Training Collection), Such as “Last Stop on Market Street”, “We are Water Protectors” and “Sulwe”.  The other Holiday Curated Collections are Environmental & Climate Justice, Anti-Imperialist Classics, Black and Revolutionary Feminism, Black Communist Tradition, Revolutionary Organizing & Social Movements, and The Eric Mann Collection.  In these collections you will find titles such as “Beyond Containment”, “Patriarchy and Accumulation”, “Black Bolshevik”, “The Red Deal”, “A Nation within a Nation”, “The wretched of the Earth” and “Dispatches from Durban”.
