As the fascists are storming the capital and fascist murderers walk free in the White Settler State

The Strategy Center is Fighting for Black Liberation

We Urgently Need Your Help.

The Labor/Community Strategy Center is a multi-racial, Afrocentric, Black led organization fighting for self-determination for the Black Nation in LA and the U.S and for Africa and the African diaspora throughout the world.

We need your financial help beginning now to raise $50,000 or more to continue our work. Contributions of $50,000 or more are welcome but we especially ask you to consider a contribution of $250 or more. You know whatever you contribute will be received with great gratitude.

We need your help because, despite the 1619 Project and vague talk about “combatting anti-Blackness” the United States from its outset has been an imperialist, genocidal white settler state. The Strategy Center has been fighting the “Racist Re-Enslavement Complex” since our inception —as Eric Mann theorized in his book, Katrina’s Legacy: White Racism and Black Reconstruction in the Gulf Coast after the U.S. genocide against the Black nation in New Orleans in 2005.

Today, the Strategy Center is out there fighting for Black, Latin@ civil and human rights, and the rights of all oppressed peoples inside and outside the United States.

Our 2 Major Campaigns Right Now

Stop Anti-Black Racism at the Los Angeles Unified School District—where visionary board members are working with us

Stop Anti-Black Racism at the Los Angeles MTA (Metro) where  corporate driven board members support anti-Blackness and have refused to work with us to solve the problem

We operate the beautiful Strategy Soul Movement Center—our home! —in South Central Los Angeles at the corner of King and Crenshaw. (3546 Martin Luther King Blvd. L.A. 90008) It takes funds to operate our Strategy and Soul Bookstore, Strategy and Soul Film Theater, and Fight for the Soul of the Cities/Bus Riders Union community office. Reach out to us at info@thestrategycenter.org or call us at (323) 903-6238

The Team

Eric Mann

director, has worked in the Black (and Puerto Rican and Chicano communities) for decades and has been working in and with the Black community since he was a field secretary with CORE in Harlem in 1964. He worked as an auto assembly line worker and UAW member at the GM Van Nuys Plant and led the campaign to keep it open for ten years.

Barbara Lott-Holland

our associate director, has lived in South Central and has ridden the bus since she came to Los Angeles from Houston in 1968 .She was an NGO Delegate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris in 2015 and is now co-chair of the Bus Riders Union and building the Strategy and Soul bookstore.

Channing Martinez

a graduate of Audubon Middle School, Crenshaw High School, and Otis College of Art and Design, is our director of organizing and our most prominent representative to both the Los Angeles Unified School Board and the Los Angeles (Racist) MTA. He ran an exciting campaign for the Los Angeles City Council in District 10 in 2020 getting more than 10% of the Black vote

Akunna Uka

whose family synthesizes U.S. Black and Nigerian traditions, is among our most active volunteer leaders. She is working with Channing and Barbara on leading the Saturday work at Strategy and Soul and Eric on stopping the U.S. war against the People’s Republic of China. She brings boundless energy and optimism to the work.

Demands

In the next days, Channing Martinez, our director of organizing, will tell you more about our work in 3 Los Angeles High Schools, in South Central and East L.A. to fight for

The MTA must pass a motion acknowledging it has a systematic anti-Black problem and work with the Bus Riders Union to root it out step by step

  • No police in the LAUSD Schools
  • Hundreds of millions of dollars in new funds for Black students and Black Schools
  • No Police on MTA Buses and Trains
  • Stop MTA Attacks and Genocide Against Black Passengers—only civilian staff on the trains, free public transportation for all with no proof of income or anything required, no collection of fares
  • No Cars in LA—stop US greenhouse gases contributing to droughts, floods, and climate genocide against the nations of Sub-Saharan Africa

Who still talks like that? We do, and we are making a lot of progress. We work well with others, build a broad united front, but yes, try to set out a very clear Afrocentric anti-imperialist perspective in our work.

If you support this Black Liberation strategy as the fascists are storming the capital please contribute generously.
